Pastor’s Corner

Bro. Charlie Wilson

Charlie came to be our Pastor in 2004 (April Fool’s Day to be exact). He previously served as Associate Pastor and Student Minister at Hartwell FBC in Hartwell, Georgia. Born in Montgomery, AL but raised in Pensacola, Florida, Bro. Charlie is a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, The University of Alabama, and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is currently pursing a Doctor of Ministry at Birmingham Theological Seminary.

Charlie is married to the former Jill Kizziah of Pensacola … he is very thankful she said “I do” on May 10, 1997. They have two children: Allie and Charlie Pierce who are currently students at the University of Alabama.

Bro. Charlie enjoys spending time with his family and attending Alabama sporting events … Roll Tide!

Charlie’s Corner – January 5th

200 Years and Counting…– This past Sunday was New Year’s Day … how exciting that we get to both “ring in” and “close out” 2023 on the Lord’s Day! 2023 is going to be a special year in the life of our Church Family. We will be celebrating our Bicentennial throughout the year. Each month we will have at least one speaker reminiscing about our history or we will have musical and preaching guests who were a part of our church coming back to be with us throughout the year. Look for more details on this year-long celebration in the Broadcaster in the coming weeks.

Wednesdays in January– Bro. Larry will be finishing his lesson on January 11th as we will be starting our journey home late that evening. On Wednesday night, January 18thwe will have Savannah Garrett sharing with us. Savannah grew up in Columbus and attended the “W”. Growing up, Savannah was in the youth Sunday School class that

Kyndal Wilkins taught. She now works with a mission organization called “Impact Africa” and “Impact Baby Rescue”. She will be leaving in February to go back to Africa. This organization does a lot of humanitarian work; but their main focus is to share the gospel message with folks that need to hear the story of God’s love and grace.

Holy Land – By the time you might be reading this Broadcaster Jill and I will be on our first full day of touring in Caesarea and finishing that day seeing Jesus’ boyhood home in Nazareth. I still cannot believe we are having this wonderful opportunity and can’t wait to share all about. “Thank you” seems like such an inadequate expression – but we are overwhelmed and grateful, Amen?!

Be in prayer for Jacob as he will be sharing God’s Word with you this coming Sunday (We are scheduled to float on the Dead Sea while y’all are getting up and ready for Sunday School and Worship). I know he will do an excellent job honoring the Lord and blessing our church family.

Blessings,

Charlie
